Centrifugal Shaman

By Jerry Rea Ellis

An aboriginal Shaman with his Ph.D.
In astrophysics from Cal-Tech
Dancing at the end of the fifth sun.
Ankles cause ripples in the resonant vibration pools,
As the polar ice caps grow heavy and threaten
A Catechesm of cataclysm.
Kleidoscope cuts in the major arteries of modern religion.
Lead the insistently rational to theorize their souls away.
Yet, betwixt the Temples of the Sun and Moon the Shaman still sways.
A sufi dervish spinning in the Way of the Dead.
Bathed in the light of God's beautiful sun.

Preaching particle physics at Tiahuanaco.
Making love on the Nazca plane.
Keeping watch and keeping time with the Moai.
Chiseling the superstring theory into the stones
Of Pohnpei's Nan Madol.
A unified field theory culled from tantric energy spheres
High in the Himalayas.
Breathing the thin oxygen sustenance of the Lamas.
A quantum mechanic who holds the love of Christ.
While scrawling the stained glass signature of the Sefirot.
Suffering the sparks be raised,
And drinking the grace of God's beautiful Son.

Between kisses the Shaman reckons the score
Of a war consumating Hell and Heaven
Humanity zero.
Earth Seven.
