Creation:
The Negligent Goddess

By Sandra Lindow

Once a goddess with time
And a multiplicity of extremities
Decided to accessorize.
She took the stuff of her best left foot,
Rolled it into a ball,
Made Earth, a bright blue bauble,
And set it spinning in a sunny space.
Essentially starry eyed and easily pleased,
She thought it good.
Temporarily distracted by life
That bloomed inside her numinous body,
She plucked some out
And left it with the Earth.
Then a pedicure appointment
Diverted her attention
To the other side of the galaxy.
When, after an eon or so,
She got around to checking,
It was too late; life was out of control.
