Welcome to the Autumn issue!

The Great Hall features "Adept," an elegant tale of revenge by Shawn James; a story of grief, "Something" by Jack Fisher; a battle in heaven in Lloyd Michael Lohr's "Ghosts of Elam;" the latest Rainbow Man stories by G. W. Thomas: "The Muse," "Nekronomikon," "Dragons," "Medusa's Head,", and "The Vampyre;" the twisted little story "Daddy Dearest" by Craig Davidson (okay, it's not really speculative, but I loved it anyway); a dark vision of lonliness and isolation in "The Typist" by Stuart Jaffe; and the equally dark story of a group of people who would be very grateful for some isolation in "Multiple Personalities" by Carlton Mellick III

The Poetry section debuts with "Rara Avis" and "Curse of Medusa's Husband" by Bruce Boston; "Hammerchant" by M. S. Raper; "Cerridwen" and "The Green Man" by Melissa Pinol; "Doxology of the Gnostics" and "Centrifugal Shaman" by Jerry Rea Ellis; "Rune Lament" by James Herrick; and "Stirring Echoes of Exile's Thunder" and "From the Womb of Skaldi" by Poetry Editor Lloyd Michael Lohr.

We've added two new stories to the Crown & Thistle Inn: Stephen D. Rogers brings us a tale of perseverence from China, "The Old Man and the Mountain", and Valerie Frankel revisits one of the Grimm Brothers' tales, "Tattercoats."

The Gallery features the art of multi-talented Dave Bowlin.

We've also got two book reviews this quarter: Lord of Emperors by Guy Gavriel Kay and Cuckoo by Richard Wright.

And don't forget to join the mailing list: in addition to updates, you'll have a chance to win a copy of Nemeton, an anthology of new fiction by Fables contributors David Bowlin, Terry Bramlett, Jason Brannon, Alan Bruce, Stephen Crane Davidson, Stuart Jaffe, Shawn James, Kate Hill, Lloyd Michael Lohr, Lawrence D. P. Miller, Nora M. Mulligan, Daniel A. Olivas, David Randall, Stephen D. Rogers, Bill Vernon and your truly. Winners will be notified and announced October 1.
