By David C. Kopaska-Merkel

hold tight to the Earth:
Wind Walker comes on large feet
skies open to him.

do you hear his tread?
Elephant of the northland,
God of cold journeys.

fear not his embrace
for you will taste of the stars
and we all must die.

he comes for you now
across the clear frigid miles
and his stride is long.
